The Windows

Sunlight through the windows of St Peter’s Church

The church windows tell the story of repeated restoration and renewal.

Most were extensively repaired and re-glazed during the Victorian restoration of 1849. The east window was gifted by local benefactor G. L. Johnston, while other windows have been restored in memory of parishioners and benefactors. Although much of the medieval glass has been lost, the windows continue a centuries-old tradition of local people contributing to the beauty of the church.
